57th Grammy awards

Music’s biggest night went down February 8 as the 57th Grammy awards were awarded to musics best. Big names such as Jay Z and Beyonce, Paul Mccartney, Tony Bennett and Kanye West were inattendues. One well Known artist who did not attend is Toronto’s own Drake who skipped the Grammys to attend the biggest rap battle in Toronto called blackout 5 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, which was sponsored by OVO.

The Grammys turned out to be Sam Smiths biggest night as a musician taking home 4 Grammys. Best New Artist,  Best Pop Vocal Album for In The Lonely Hour, Song of the Year for Stay With Me (Darkchild Version) and Record of the Year for Stay With Me (Darkchild Version).

For best traditional pop vocal album Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga took home the award for their song cheek to cheek. Best alternative rock album went to St. Vincent for their album, St. Vincent. Best R&B performance went to the queen B herself, Beyonce for her song Drunk in Love featuring her husband Jay Z.

Of course with any award night there is always questions. The winner of the biggest award of the night for album of the year had many in attendance and around the world confused. The award for album of the year went to Beck for his album Morning Phase. Beck also won best rock album

Many were shock at Beck winning album of the year, so shocked Kanye West went on the stage and looked like he was going to pull a Taylor Swift MTV moments but shoved it off and went back to his seat.

Whether you thought Beyonce or Sam Smith should have taken home album of the year, for artist Beck, winning the award and Kanye’s move to go on stage to protest has helped his popularity. according to adweek Beck’s popularity on spotify is up 524% after the Grammys.
