Here is the list of music venues in Toronto that will be receiving an upgrade this year.
The Sound Academy
The venue will have a new state-of-the-art-sound-system. It will also have an enlarged stage, and a V.I.P. mezzanine and retractable glass walls to show off the city of Toronto. The venue will open for concerts, corporate events, and dance parties by the end of the year.
This venue is including an installation of a loading dock. A new basement, and expanded backstage. The venue will also have interior and exterior renovations beginning in 2019. The sad news is the hall may close for up to two years during the renovations.
The iconic sign remains outside, and inside work is being done on the historic ballroom building. Installation of full top end digital AV will be done.
In December 2014, the venue had a small electrical fire, which had some shows to relocate on short notice. Adelaide Hall has a plan to relaunch with regular shows beginning April 3. If you’re a local artist, you may want to contact them for gig opportunities.
The Cameron House
The Cameron House was closed January 4th-8th while the front room was renovated. The venues stage is now twice the size, the piano is relocated onstage, and the sound system has been upgraded.
